On a briefing call with a client (to prepare for being the inspirational speaker at their conference) the client said:
“The reason we have booked you to come and speak, is because I’ve found in my experience, the whole point of bringing everyone together for an event is not just to give them information about the business and strategy, but to give them inspiration to think differently, and to think better. And the best way to do that is to have a guest speaker.”
I thought this was a great insight.
Corporate conferences, of course, must have lots of the serious business content. But to give them best value and lasting impact, having a professional guest speaker (or two) can make the difference between the event being memorable rather than forgettable; between it launching everyone forwards, rather than just taking up time.
As a professional speaker, my passion is not to impart information, and it is not to entertain. It is to provoke the audience to think differently.
To think differently about:
- Challenge
- Change (personal change and thriving in a changing world)
- Personal growth
- A growth mindset
- Resilience
- Courage
- Collaboration
- Agility
